PATRICK GREWE

ARTIST STATEMENT
I grew up on a farm in Cuming County, Nebraska, which is where I came to love farming and nature.  I learned to love photography from my father, Art Grewe.  Dad brought hundreds of color slides home from his stint with the U.S. Army in Germany in 1951 and I loved looking at them.  He also taught me the basics of photography.

My own journey in photography began in 1979 when I bought a 35 mm film camera.  I have been taking pictures ever since. Until recently, my style has been journalistic—documenting personal and family events and travel.

After a 41-year career in law and trust administration, photography is now my occupation and I am passionate about it.  My subject is anything that I find to be interesting or beautiful.  Most often, that will be something in the natural world like flowers, trees, birds, and butterflies, but it is certainly not limited to that.  Detail interests me, so I often shoot small things close up.  I also like the look, and challenge, of night photography, so much of my work is done at night.

Please take a look at my images.  I hope you enjoy them.
